Third Ward Monday Senior Golf League
The Third Warders Monday Senior Golf League was established in 2017 and plays Monday afternoons at Deerwood. The League President is Gerry 'Swi' Matecki assisted by Paul 'Bones' Borowiec (Secretary) and Matty Rusin (Treasurer).
WEEK 6 COMPLETED - NEW LEADERS ON TOP AS WE REACH ONE THIRD POINT OF SEASON
Conditions were mid summer like, with temperatures approaching 90. Fortunately there was a nice summer breeze to help cool it down slightly. After play in week 6, we have new (but familiar) leaders as defending champions Team Bielski / Waldo / Moose are now on top with 18.5 points as they took all 4 points in their match with last week's leaders Team Choboy / Reed, who remain at 16.5 points (third place). Moving up into second place is Team Fire / Molnar / Kennedy with 17.0 points. Please refer to the 'Standings' section of this site for the complete standings after week 6.
Scoring for week 6 was dominated by Dave Higgins who shot a sparkling one under 35 on Doe. Dave also copped low net honors with a 30. Please refer to the 'Scores' section of this site for all scores for week 6.
TWEETER WATCH - There were 4 birdies posted in week 6 - Dave Higgins (#3 & #5 Doe) and John Daigler (#4 & #6 Doe).
SCHEDULE CHANGE - The previously cancelled matches (due to weather) from 5/5/2025 and 6/9/2025 have now been re-scheduled for Sept. 8th and Sept. 15th respectively. An updated schedule has been posted in the 'Schedule' section of this site.
NEW AVERAGES AND HANDICAPS - Please note the averages and handicaps for each player have now been revised. These new averages and handicaps are based on the scores (or average if a player did not play in a particular week) for the first 5 weeks of our season. These should be used for play in weeks 6 thru 11. An updated roster and scoresheet with these new averages and handicaps has been sent out to all league participants by Swi. They can also be found in the 'Roster' and 'Scores' section of this website. They will be posted at the course each week as well.
HOUSEKEEPING - Reminder, our league reserved tee times begin at 12:32 P.M. Every group must check in with the starter before teeing off. Also, groups should not get into the tee line until all players in the group are present at the tee box. Please also note that should a group wish to play a different 9, they will have to receive an approval from the starter of that 9 when checking in. No exceptions. One last item - there are still a few league participants who have not yet paid their 2025 league fee to Matty Rusin. Unless paid promptly, these individuals will be removed from our league roster and will not be eligible to play going forward - no exceptions.
Remember, please continue to support the Club - still the finest bar in town (with the coldest beer and the best prices). Sign the book, play the lucky pull tabs or the Queen of Hearts, or just simply enjoy a delicious cold beverage after a round of golf.
